The Program

Crossroads Basketball was started 4yrs ago by Cornell Thomas after his dreams of playing professional basketball ended. Cornell suffered a career ending injury just 2 weeks before he was supposed to leave to play semi professional basketball in Portugal. After the injury Cornell started training kids. He felt that by training kids he could still be around basketball and found it satisfying helping others. He stumbled across his very first client by accident while working at a YMCA in Northern NJ. She was very dedicated and reminded him a lot of himself when he was a player. They began training together everyday and eventually he began building a small clientel list through just word of mouth.4yrs later Cornell has trained hundreds of players through his individual sessions, clinics, and summer camps.

Cornell was also hired 2yrs ago by his old junior college(Sussex County Community College) to coach the men's program and in his first 2 seasons Cornell has taken the Skylanders into the semi finals of their conference tournament. This past season Cornell and his team received the Sam Schoenfeld Sportsmanship Award. Sussex County Community College is the first 2yr school in the history of the award to receive this honor. Cornell has also branched out and has done motivational speaking for different basketball camps and teams and is currently running his second coaches clinic for youth coaches and parents.

Cornell has trained players on almost every level of basketball from beginners to semi pro.His very first client went on to play Division 1 basketball and since then Cornell has helped players get scholarships to continue their playing careers at 4yr colleges. Cornell also coaches a 16 and under girl's AAU team in the spring (NJ Mavericks).

The goal at Crossroads Basketball will always be to help players reach the next level. At Crossroads, player's learn not only what it takes to be sucessful on the basketball court but also what it takes to be succesful.
